friday high five - chocolate

Well if we're friends on facebook (and if we aren't.... why aren't we already?) then you already now that I've hopped onto Mike's Weight Watchers bandwagon and have lost 13 pounds so far. Apparently off my ass, or at least that's what I've been told. And what a nice thing to hear, thanks!
So as you can imagine there's been a lot of things that have changed around here in regards to what I'm eating. Among other things there is a lot less chocolate. While I am a huge fan of chocolate I can't say I've missed it all that much. Which has really kind of surprised me. But if I was to partake of one today, here are my top five.....

1. KitKat, in all it's forms - original, chunky, caramel or peanut butter. Although I once saw a limited edition banana one that I took a pass on. Blech!

2. Mars - It's a good "diet" chocolate bar. And by that I mean it has less fat then most other chocolate bars.

3. Reese Whipped - Have you seen these? I've only seen then in the local Dollarama and I usually treat myself when I'm on a dollar store shopping spree. Chocolate and peanut butter, but the filling is like a Mars bar, so again less fat, still delicious.

4. Twix - I haven't had one in ages and ages, but it was always one of my favourites when I was a kid. And bonus you get two bars so you can share with a friend.... ha!

5. Coffee Crisp - my second pick when I'm picking through the girls Halloween buckets.

What's your favourite chocolate bar?

As a WW fan and fellow member-and as a chocolate lover-I found a good snack for those times when I just need a chocolate fix!! I buy some low fat chocolate pudding cups. They run about 120 cals. I scoop it out of the cup and add in some light cool whip. (about a cup) I mix them together and they make a nice smooth chocolate mousse in quite a large serving for around 2 pts!!! The other thing you can do is make your own ice cream sandwiches with two graham crackers and the whip in the middle. Wrap in Saran and freeze-each again is about 2 pts.

I've lurked for a looong time but never commented-so HI! :) Love the blog!

I hate chocolate. Have never eaten it not even as a child. I searched my easter eggs in the garden with a lot of excitement, then put them in the fridge and never looked at them again.

I'm a Belgian who hates chocolate. I hate going to buy chocolate in our chocolate stores, as it smells bad in there. I also dislike sitting next to someone who just had eaten a chocolate bar as their breath smells.

Yeah I know I'm weird :p

Mmmmmm... chocolate. Alas, this would be my Achilles heal in my victory over my weight. But I love the stuff. What I've discovered is a little of the good stuff is much more satisfying than much more of the candy bar variety. So I stick to a square or two of nice dark chocolate to get my fix, hopefully not more than once a day, or I'm in trouble.

WTG on the 13 lbs so far! WW was great for me before but I fell into my old ways and brought the pounds back. With spring in the air, I'm heading back to the gym and working at it again.

Thanks for writing such a great blog. I'm enjoying following it.

MMM - Well I'm so glad you commented. Now I'll expect you to do it all the time. Thanks for the great tip. I can't wait to give it a try.

Goofball - I can't even think of anything to say to that.

Pam - Thanks for commenting. I know a lot of people say that about the dark chocolate, but I've never been a fan. Milk chocolate all the way.

Merry - Never been a fan of those. Love the mini eggs though.

Julie - I am totally jealous. A Lindt outlet!?!?! Who knew such thing existed.

I love Coffee Crisp, too - but I can only really get it in Canada, so fortunately, I'm not overly tempted. What I have every. single. day. and I'm on the equivalent of weightwatchers (I'm on a free site called sparkpeople.com) is a small piece (hershey's kiss size) of dark chocolate. It helps me "take the edge off". ;-)

BTW... I'm on facebook as Jennifer Shikes Haines if you want to friend me. ;-)
