Why can't every weekend be a long weekend? I would even settle for one a month. I don't ask for much, but that would be nice.
We were running a bit low on water this weekend so that meant showers at the in-laws last night. I let Mike shower first and he headed downstairs the the dungeon shower (old plastic shower stall in the middle of the basement wall, no shower curtain, shower head is all limed up so it's really only a trickle, the standard shower you'd find in a Turkish prison). I, perversely, waited until he was finished to point out that the new "luxury" shower in the addition was finished and in working order. I can't remember when I had a nicer time showering. Our shower here at home is also reminiscent of a Turkish prison, actually I think a Turkish prison shower may be nicer than ours. So now I have bathroom envy! I'd love to have Dad and Linda's new bathroom over here at our place.
It's always nice when you show up to pick up the bouncer after a rental and find little to none of the saftey rules being followed. What's even nicer is when the parents make zero attempt to keep their kids and/or guest(s) out of our way while we're packing up. Sometimes, just sometimes, parents plan for the party to be over before we get there. That happened to us today and it makes everything so much easier. It was a beautiful house we were at this afternoon, an old stone house with a very English backyard/garden. So now I have garden envy. I'd love to have their backyard, but I hate all things related to gardening. To further complicate things I married a man who hates all things related to gardening.
I love my sitter. Usually when Mike and I work on the weekends we call the various grandparents into service. We got caught with our pants down this afternoon when we couldn't get anybody on the phone. So Mike called up Lyn and asked if she minded taking Abby for an hour or so. That was fine with her so we dropped her off. "Mackenzie Baby" was there so Abby had a great time playing while we were gone. Mike and I got back to pick up Abby and Mike told Lyn just to add the hour and a bit she was there onto our total. "Oh that's okay she was just visiting today," Lyn says. Now how nice is that? I feel so lucky we have such a great person to leave Abby with.
Somebody must have told the Grand Marquis that we've been looking for new cars because she's been misbehaving for the last two days. Yesterday Mike had no break lights and now we can't get her to go or stop. I told Mike we have to make a decision this week, which made him a little crazy. He did finally admit that we need to get moving on this before the Grand Marquis goes on strike for good.
