Tonight we made the trip down to the hospital to meet the newest member of our family of friends. She was born yesterday morning weighing a whooping 10 lbs 4 oz and her name is Zoe Marie. Hope looked great despite the fact that she's been pregnant forever and didn't have the easiest delivery. Baby Alex doesn't seem to have realized that he is in fact a big brother now. Hope is heading home tomorrow and I have to say I don't envy her being home with 2 babies under the age of one. Alex is just starting to walk and getting into everything, now she has Baby Zoe who's going to demand a lot of her attention. Hope's a trooper though, I know she's going to be able to handle it. She already seems like she's got it all together.
Baby Zoe, of course, is beautiful. Abby was in love with her before she met her. For the last two days all she's been talking about is Baby Zoe. She even drew a picture of Baby Zoe that she took to the hospital tonight in her "purse". Hope put it in her bassinet which Abby seemed to like. I asked Abby if she wanted to hold Baby Zoe and got a big yes while she hopped right up in the chair. She was happy enough to have the baby in her lap for a moment or two, but then she was ready for Baby Zoe to be moving on.
Abby was thrilled to see Auntie Yoli at the hospital. We had the visiting room right filled up with us, Aaron, Hope and the kids, Tracey, Tristan, Yoles and Hope's brother and his family popped in too. Of course it was hotter than Hades in there and all the kids had pink cheeks in no time. We finished off the evening going out for dinner with Yoles, Tracey and Tristan. Abby was amazingly well behaved considering we were eating at 8 pm. She also ate a ton for a kid that had dinner before we left the house. Almost a whole kid sized pizza and two mini ice cream cones. Man I'd love to have her metabolism! It was a great start to a long weekend!
