I forgot to mention that my brother showed up here yesterday with one very impressive beard. Dave has dabbled in facial hair in many different forms over the years, but this is the first time I've ever seen him with a full thick beard. That's not to say he's never had one before. I mean I really don't get to see him that often. So he shows up with this beard, which is a little shocking at first because it makes him look so much like our Dad, but I have to say it does suit him.
So Abby gets up this morning and climbs into bed with me so we can watch a little Kids Next Door and some Dora. After that she asks to go down stairs. Now I still haven't told her that Dave and Mel are here and I've kept her upstairs to let them sleep a little longer. For some inexplicable reason when she gets to the top of the stairs she asks, is my "Unple Dabe" here? Why she thought to ask that is beyond me, but I tell her I don't know let's go check. So we get downstairs and she stops because she can see somebody laying on the couch. "Who is it?" I ask her. It's Auntie Mel! Then she looks over to the love seat, where Dave is sprawled out..... "Who is that guy?" she asks. I tell her it's Uncle Dave and get an "oh" in return. I can tell she can't quite believe me. We spent the rest of the morning trying to get her to touch his beard, but she wasn't very interested in getting too close to him. Mel and I decided to go out for lunch and some shopping leaving Dave and Abby alone together. Abby was not too keen on that idea originally. Tears appeared to be immeninet, but they never actually arrived and she seemed to be a bit happier about the arrangement when we left. By the time we got back Abby seemed to have gotten used to the "new" Uncle Dave. He even got a hug at bed time!
