Snowblowers and Toilet Paper

We had some snow flurries the other day. Can you believe that? It was only November 10th. Seems a little too early to me. There was a definite chill in the air. Poor Abby had to wear two jackets to play outside. Mom bought her a winter coat for this year, but I haven't actually gotten it off her yet. There didn't seem to be a real rush, it was still rather balmy for November. The sudden cold snap makes me nervous, because... well who's going to shovel the snow??? Michael had his carpal tunnel surgery on Friday. His left hand. Oh and did I mention he was left handed? So that puts him out of commission for a while. Of course he is insistent that I do none of the shoveling either, what with me carrying his child and all. What a sweetie eh? Except I really know that he's trying to work the snowblower angle. Hard.

Now he's been working that angle for years now, but this is the first time he's ever had a serious hook. I mean it's a very valid point. There is a distinct possibility that neither one of us will be in any kind of shape to be shoveling snow. Well definitely not me, depending on when the real deal snow shows up Michael could be healed up. The fact of the matter is Mike will not be getting his much desired snowblower. For a couple of reasons. One being the rather newish Mini Van that's parked in our driveway. Another being the brand new furnace that's currently pumping beautiful warm air through every room in this house. Two very good reasons. Those are big ticket items, that have yet to be paid for completely.

The biggest obstacle though, is the fact that our toilet paper budget has shot through the roof. Yes folks, Abby has mastered toilet training. I can't remember the last time she had an accident in the day. She uses the "big girl toilet" all by herself. She's a total pro. In the last week or so she's decided that she needs about half a roll to a full roll of toilet paper to adequately wipe her girly bits. Last week we had to make a special last minute shopping trip to Wal Mart when Abby plugged up the john with our last roll. Mike has now put her on a very strict "4 squares" ration. Right now she's on the "honour system". Although Mike has started calling himself the TP Police and will do surprise raids while Abby's using the facilities.
