Ho Ho Ho

Well back to my regularily scheduled life where there is a lot going on these days. Thursday I had my pre-registration appointment at the hospital. The lady who we had the appointment with actually did my registration when I had Abby over 3 years ago and she remembered! That was pretty impressive. So basically we went over all of my medical needs and things I can expect while at the hosptial. She told us they are trying to change the image of the hospital after the SARS epidemic. The hosptial is no longer for socializing. No children are allowed to visit me and the baby while there with the exception of Abby. Guests are limited to a total number of two at a time not including Mike who the don't consider a visitor. They also ask that only people you consider important come to visit. Leave the rest of the social visits for your time at home. Mike thinks the last one is a bit of a ridiculous request since obviously we don't have control over everybody we know. How can we possibly stop somebody from coming to visit? We also discussed our plan for labour and delivery. They have taken into consideration my experience with Abby, so, for example, if I come in after my water has broken I likely won't be sent home. Especially if the weather is bad. I guess I made them a little nervous coming back fully dialated. So that's all set up and ready to go, nothing to do now, but wait.

Friday we decided to take Abby to see Santa. She was all for the idea at home. She wanted to tell him she wanted a Pegasus Pony for Christmas. Now that's something I hadn't bought her, but I'm guessing now I should since that's what she wants from Santa. So I get Abby looking a little respectable. I didn't have a real Christmasy outfit for her to wear, but I did have a shirt with a snowflake on it so that would have to do. Then we loaded up and headed to the mall. We decided to do the Santa thing right away. So the 3 of us get in line. We had gone to Brantford because it's not a very busy mall, but we didn't realize it was Moonlight Madness so it was a little busier than normal, but nothing crazy. So we lined up behind the Santa display and after a couple of minutes the line moved up and we were past the dividing wall and Abby got her first glimpse of St. Nick. I'm sure you can imagine what came next. "I don't want to go" and she took a big step backwards. Mike and I both offered to go up to see him with her. A big suggestion for me since I'm not a big Santa fan myself. You know that whole people in costumes thing. Nope she wasn't having any part of it. Well that was fine. I certainly wasn't going to force her. So we got out of line and went to do some shopping. Abby was relatively well behaved for a littel girl in a crowded mall. Lucky for us it's a little mall so we had covered the whole thing in no time. Then Abby asked if she could have a slice of pizza so she and Mike settled at the food court and I went off to look at a few things. With her pizza consumed and all shopping avenues exhausted we figured it was time to head for home. On the way out I offered Abby one last chance to see Santa. So we got back into line. This time once we got past the dividing wall she was fine. He waved at her and she hid behind my legs, but she stayted in line. We got all the way up to the ramp, she was up next. So at that point I aske dher what she was going to ask Santa for.

Abby: I don't want to go.

Me: Why not?

Abby: I don't like him.

Me: Don't you want to tell Santa what you want for Christmas?

Abby: No I'm too shy.

Me: Did you want to go home and write him a letter?

Abby: Yeah let's write him a letter. That's a great idea.

So that was the end of our Santa experience for another year. We got out of line and went home.

Last night I was out at yet another Christmas party. Abby's getting a little annoyed with my going out without her. It was a really nice evening with the girls from work. Linda put together a great dinner. We had a lot of laughs and there was some lovely gifts for the secret Santa. I ended up with Nancy's gift which was some Christmas stuff for the house. Which I love to get, but never buy for myself. So that worked out great.

Today I'm thinking is going to be a quiet day. Mike is back to work tomorrow. Abby's back to the sitter's. I have only two more weeks until I'm on holidays. We have a full busy weekend next weekend with Christmas get togethers and then in a blink it will be Christmas. Where did all the time go?
