Random Bits

Had a Doctor's appointment yesterday. Everything is looking good. She did tell me that this baby is still sitting very high and that should be making things pretty uncomfortable. Umm yeah tell me something I didn't know. My restless leg syndrome has seemed to have gotten out of control in the last couple of days. The evenings being the worst. Before I could easily go to sleep and elevate the problem, but that's not working so well for me anymore. First I have to try and find a comfortable position to lay in and whenI finally do my legs are so... well restless... that I'd happily just pull them off and throw them out the window if it meant I could fall asleep peacefully. This pregnancy has been more taxing on me than carrying Abby was. Abby was pretty chill in there, but then she had a heart condition which I'm sure contributed to her lethargy. This child seems to be in constant motion which has been pretty cool too. I drive Mike nuts laying on the couch demanding he watch my belly as junior rolls around in there.

The great naming debate continues. We're good with boy names, there's no more discussion in that area. It's the girl's names we're having issues with. Mike's still really pulling for Jenna while I'm still firmly thinking Emma. Just to drive him nuts I've thrown Sarah into the mix. So he's retaliated with Jennifer. Which would have pleased Abby to no end as she's been insisting that she is having a baby sister and that we should name her Jenny. I say would have because Abby's decided to mix it up a bit too asking if we could name our bundle of joy Baby Jesus. I didn't have the heart to tell her that it's not going to make the short list.

Well Dave and Mel are here and Abby is beside herself with excitement. She's already made them watch Toy Story, Shark Tale and she challenged them to two games of Candyland, one of which she won. Uncle Dave has been a good sport about playing endless games of hide and seek even though Abby cheats. She thinks counting to three is more than sufficient time for Uncle Dave to hide himself. Adelaide the dog is also here and Abby is having a hard time grasping the concept that Adelaide, being a dog, isn't the greatest playmate in the world. "Mommy, Adelaide's not talking to me, " is a complaint I've heard several times so far. Trying to explain why Adelaide isn't talking to her is starting yet another endless round of Abby's new favourite game... Why? Trust me she plays this game like a pro. Overall Adelaide is a pretty good dog, she's very well behaved and we have little to complain about while she's here. She's very good about staying in our unfenced yard when we let her out to do her "business". The command for that is "Adelaide go park." Can you imagine the confusion that causes to a three year old? Last night she was on the verge of tears thinking Adelaide was going to get to go to the park without her. It was nearly bedtime, she'd been bathed was in her jammies and she's arguing with me about gettting her coat on so she could go "park" with Adelaide. She didn't quite believe that Adelaide wasn't heading down the street to swing on the swings.

Michael stepped out of his box last night and did something a little different. About 11 pm last night Dave decided to head out to visit an old friend of his, the Dougman. A guy Mike's met several times before and has a serious boy-crush on. Dave tried hard to get Mike to go out with him, but Mike was steadfastly refusing to go saying it was too late to go out, that he was old and tired and needed to go to bed. Dave pointed out there was a mere 2 years difference in their ages and Mike should stop being such a pansy. Sometimes Dave can browbeat... I mean convince... Mike to do things Mike thinks he doesn't want to do, but last night I seriously thought there was no way. Dave disappeared for a while to get ready to go and on his way out made once last effort and it was a good one. Mike got that familar look of defeat on his face and with a grin was headed out the door with Dave promising they'd be back by midnight. Mike may have bought that story, but the rest of us knew there was no way. They did stroll back in just after 1, Mike with a sheepish grin on his face saying yes he'd had a good time and was glad he had gone. Just like Dave told him from the beginning.
