Here's Your Hat, What's Your Hurry?

Well that nasty puke monster seems to have taken up residence at our house permanently. After a bit of a crummy day at work I got Abby to convince Mike we should just order pizza for dinner. Luckily for me that was an easy sale. Abby decided she wanted to go to the pizza store with Daddy and I figured I'd tag along too. I also convinced Mike that we should pick up 3 more cases of water since they were on sale at Food Basics at it was the last day. Somewhere around picking up the water and picking up the pizza my stomach started to feel a bit upset. It was getting a bit late and I hadn't had my usual snack after work so I assumed I was just hungry. The baby doesn't really like me to go too long in between meals. After we got home I managed to eat dinner even though my stomach was still upset, that in hindsight was a mistake.

Not very long after I got Abby settled into bed I found myself hovering over the toilet praying that I would finally be able to stop throwing up. Having gone through this with Abby I knew that anything I ingested afterwards would come right back up, but I was hopeful that like Abby it wouldn't last for very long. I cautiously drank bottle after bottle of water. Thank goodness we'd picked up another 3 cases that night. By some miracle I managed to keep it down, but I still slept on the couch, just in case. I still felt pretty crummy the next day, but managed to have a bit to eat and keep it down. I slept most of the day and Michael did an awesome job of keeping Abby from bothering me. Although at one point she did sneak upstairs to give me a quick kiss on the lips and then snuck back down. That was probably her down fall right there.

Mike was even nice enough to tackle the grocery shopping on his own. I sent him with a list of course. Before that we engaged ourselves in a little Sudoku challenge. Michael's become somewhat addicted to the Japanese number puzzle as has everyone else apparently. I had never attempted one before, but when I stumbled across this site offering free puzzles I printed two copies of the same one and offered up the challenge. I have to admit, even in my sickly state, I was feeling rather cocky about my ability to complete the puzzle well before Mike did. I like doing puzzles, word searches, crossword puzzles (easier ones mind you) and so on. Not the type of thing Mike's really interested in. I really believed I had a leg up on him. So there we both sat with our puzzles, pencils and erasers trying to figure out how to get all our numbers placed correctly. Imagine my shock when Mike dropped his pencil after about 15 - 20 minutes, announced he was done and left to go grocery shopping. After he was gone I sat staring at my unfinished puzzle wondering how the hell he did that so fast. I wasn't even half done and I had come up against a serious road block. Let me tell you it's not easy to just shift things around to make one number fit some where. You do that and odds are you have one, two or three numbers that no longer fit some where else in the puzzle. It's very frusterating. I must have completely erased my sheet three or four times before I worked out the solution. And yes I was very tempted to grab Mike's sheet and cheat. My pride wouldn't quite let me though. In case you're wondering It took me about 40 - 45 minutes to finish it up. I'm going to have to practice a little more before I challenge him again.

Since I was still feeling miserable on Saturday Mike cancelled the poker game we had arranged with his Mom. Another game that's become insanely popular. Everybody seems to be playing poker these days. Mike's Mom and Mark are no exception. They now play regularily with a bunch of Mark's buddies. Mike, who ordinarily hates card games, has been really interested in learning how to play. His Mom gave him a quick crash course one night while we were visiting. Since then he's been playing video poker at Pogo to get a better understanding of the poker hands. Recently she purchased him a poker set in a sweet looking silver briefcase to get him started. Last night was to be his first official poker game with his new poker set. After Abby went to bed I was feeling much better so he called his Mom to see if she still wanted to come over, but she was busy actually setting up Grandma's dining room table in her dining room. Since it's been sitting in her hall way for well over a year Mike didn't want to interupt such and important project. I think we're going to head over tonight to actually have dinner at a table in her dining room for the first time in.... well years. We're pretty excited about it.

Well I have to say it was good that I had slept all day since 1 am found Abby standing inthe middle of her bed projectile vomitting all over the place. I had fallen asleep on the couch trying to watch SNL when her screams jolted me awake. I could tell by the sound of them she was sick. Upstairs was like a scene out of the Exorcist. Thank God for laminate flooring. What a quick clean up that was. Mike couldn't handle the mess or the smell, which was horrific, so he took Abby downstairs while I stripped the bed. Abby and I settled on the couch for the night and Mike went back to bed. Luckily she was only sick one more time, but it happened to be all over the laundry room floor. Better there than the couch or the crapet in the living room though. So 2 am found us having a very fast bath. Then it was new jammies and back on the couch where we watched Stuart Little. At that point Abby's spirits picked up immensely. She had something to eat and drink since she was complaining she was hungry and I don't blame her. I mean her stimach had to have been empty after that mess. Then of course she wanted to play, but I convinced her to lay down and we started watching the Spongebob movie. We both fell asleep partway through. At about 5 am I moved her back upstairs to her bedroom because my hips couldn't take a second longer on that couch. This morning she seems to be fine, touch wood! She's eating, drinking, playing and of course arguing with her Dad. Let's all hope the puke monster has gone for good.
