Taxes, Home Movies and Running Shoes

Well I don't want to say we were procrastinating, but this afternoon at 4:30 Mike and I sat down to sign off on our income tax. Kudos to our accountant for getting it done today since we only handed over our paperwork last Thursday. We like to keep him on his toes. Unbelievably Mike and I are both getting a refund. That hasn't happened in I don't kow how long. Usually Mike gets a refund and I have to pay. Now the discussion begins... what to do with all this money? Some will go in savings, some to pay down some debt and some will go to the anniversary trip we're planning. Number one priority is, of course, taking me out for Chinese Food the day that cheque arrives. Yet another thing the Debt Diet has robbed me of, the ability to stuff myself at Chinese buffets.

Abby and I spent most of the morning in the house. I had promised the accountant I would stay by the phone in case he had any questions regarding my amateur book keeping. To keep Abby from going crazy and begging every two minutes to go for a walk I put in a home movie of Abby at about a year. I thought that would be fun for her. Boy was I wrong. It started out fun. Abby was excited to see herself as a "baby". Then we got to the piece of footage I shot in which rather than show off her tricks like standing on one foot Abby stands in front of the camera and cries for me to pick her up. So I have Abby on the TV crying and now I have Abby standing beside me crying.... because she was crying on the TV. These were large heartbreaking crocodile tears all because she cried as a baby. Yeah that was a great idea I had. We should do it again real soon.

It was around then that Maya decided to throw up all over my nice new outfit and Papa came knocking on the door. I think he must have felt sorry for me because he ended up taking Abby home with him. Not only did he take her home, but he took her shoe shopping as well all by himself. She came home with the prettiest pink and white My Little Pony running shoes that light up. I didn't think she'd take them off for bed time. Pretty impressive work for a Papa.
