How Did She Do That?

I have a Mom who spoils me. Then I got married and my in-laws, well, they spoil me. It was a trend I was really fond of so I went out and got a best friend who..... you guessed it, spoils me.

So Mike and I finally got around to celebrating the big 10 year anniversary. It included dinner out with Robin and Tim. They stood up for us when we got married that sweltering hot day 10 years ago. Both dressed in black I might add. Who the hell decided on a black and white wedding with floor length gowns in the middle of August? For my next wedding I think I'll go with something pastel. Or better yet a fall wedding.

Anyway back to the celebration. We were rather European about the whole thing since we headed out for dinner at around 9 pm. Courtney (AKA "the Big One") had a soccer game that went a little long. It actually worked out great since a later dinner means a quieter restaurant. So Robin and Tim showed up here with their girls, pizza for said girls, flowers, a plant, a card, a gift and a baby sitter (see I told you spoiled). Oh yes they supplied the whole night out for the anniversary package. I have to admit I was a little concerned about leaving all these girls with the one sitter. Nothing against Allison, our sitter for the evening and Robin's cousin. I've known her since she was a little girl and now suddenly she's in her 20's. How do these things happen? I was more concerned about how our girls would behave. Maya has a tendency to scream for the majority of the time we're separated and I certainly didn't want Allison to have to go through that. I forced myself to swallow my unease and out for dinner we went.

Dinner was at Montana's and everyone ordered ribs and wings except for moi who was muco daring and ordered myself a hamburger. Yeah I know how to rock it. So we stuffed ourselves (deep fried cheesecake so yummy), laughed a bunch and to my total surprise we didn't receive a single phone call begging us to come home because my child had been screaming her guts out since we left. By the time we made it back to our place it was damn near 11 pm. Okay it may have been a bit after. I opened the door with great trepidation expecting to hear some hardcore Maya squawking and yet there was nothing but silence. Fear clutched at my throat when I heard Mike ask, "Allison what did you do?"

What did she do? She did this.....

Oh you're not seeing things. They're all pretty much passed out. It looked like a pee wee flop house in there. Colour me impressed. Allison is clearly some sort of pied piper. And, believe it or not, not a solitary peep had been heard from Miss Maya all night. Yeah so I'm pretty much having Allison move in, like, tomorrow.

The next morning I was curious to see how Abby had enjoyed her evening. This had been one of the few times Abby had been in the care of a sitter who wasn't related to her.

Me: So did you have fun with Allison last night?
Abby: Yes I did. She's a cool babysitter. I even love her name. Allison.
Me: That's good. Did you have fun with the girls?
Now Robin has 4 girls and Abby tends to view them as a group rather than separate people so she has a hard time matching the right name up with the right girl.
Abby: The "Little One" doesn't listen. Allison told her to sit on the couch and she wouldn't listen.
Me: You mean Kailey? FYI Kailey is the youngest and also a year younger than Abby, but I would hesitate to call her a little one
Abby: Yeah then the "Little One" pushed me and she doesn't know how to say sorry. So I was mad at her and put all my toys away. Then the "Little One" farted and we all laughed at her.
Me: That sounds funny. And I see you had popcorn last night too. Did Allison make it for you?
Abby: No the "Big One" did.
Me: You mean Courntey? Courtney being the oldest I figured equalled her being the big one
Abby: Yeah Courtney, the "Big One".
