So Abby was at a sleepover the other night and Mike and I got to kick it old school with only one kid. Well that should be a cake walk. One would think anyway, unfortunately my life doesn't quite work out that way. Now it started out well. Maya napped through dinner. Mike and I enjoyed a kid-free meal of steak and baked potato. Yeah we know how to party. We passed the evening uneventfully and we're all in bed by 11:00pm.
Somewhere in the night Miss Maya got herself a little bit restless. So after a middle of the night feeding and some cuddling she still wasn't interested in sleep so I brought her in bed with us. That was the trick, she snuggled right up to me and we both drifted off to sleep.
Morning rolls around and Michael wakes and heads downstairs to shower without waking me up and without putting something in between Maya and the edge of the bed.
Any guesses what happens next?
Well if you guessed I woke up to the bloodcurdling screams of my child who was no longer in bed with me, then you win first prize. Congrats. Pat yourself on the back. Job well done.
Yes Maya rolled herself right off Mike's side of the bed. When I found her she was laying face up on the floor and screaming her lungs out. I think my heart had stopped beating. I know I couldn't breathe. Couldn't pick her up fast enough. I held her against me making shushing noises and running my hands over her body, checking for bumps. She actually calmed down rather quickly and I stripped her down for a bumper to bumper 90 point check up which revealed a faint bruise on her back about an inch or so long. That was it. Yeah I know, we were lucky.
So I'm sure our Worst Parents Ever Plaque will be finished being engraved later today.

Nah....it happens to all of us! My now husband, then boyfriend, dropped my son (not his) on his head at the Thanksgiving table! Now that is a way to make a good impression :)
Well I feel better. I'm not sure how these dropped kids feel about it though :)
