Friday night it was a choice between Derailed or Good Night, and Good Luck. Apparently a scantily clad Jennifer Aniston beats out a black and white George Clooney. At least it does in our house. Now I don't claim to be a great movie reviewer. There are those out there who do that much better than I could, but I knows what I like and I like Derailed. It kept me intrigued and a little bit tense. I'm sure there are some who would argue that it's far from an orginal story, but hey what is these days? Plus Clive Owen (loved him in Closer). Can we say yum ladies? I'm ready to become a card carrying member of the I <3 Clive Owen fan Club.
Mike started things off on Saturday by watching Supercross. I suggested he watch it. As a joke, people. I didn't know he'd actually sit there and watch the entire 80 minutes. Afterwards he claimed it was better than Days of Thunder, but is that really saying much? Plus I'm taking the advice of a guy who had us at the theater an HOUR early to check out the Jerky Boys movie. For those keeping track at home, the IMdb rates Supercross a 2.6/10, Jerky Boys 3.6/10 and Days of Thunder 5.3/10. You can draw your own conclusions from that.
Next it was a little bit of family movie night. The three of us cuddled up on the couch and checked out Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. We had heard good things about this movie and thought Abby would enjoy it. Turns out, unbeknowst to us, she'd already seen it with Justin. Apparently Wallace & Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit is The Blair Witch Project for the pre-school set.
Any time the screen would mist up and the dialogue would shift to the topic of said Were-Rabbit Abby would have her hands ready to clamp over her eyes at a moment's notice. "I don't like to see the rabbit" was her mantra. I asked her repeatedly if she wanted to watch something else, but she was a trooper and stuck with it. We were glad she did because it is a very funny movie. Lots of laughs in there just for the parents. No tthat I was surprised by that. I expected it to be great. I loved Chicken Run and Nick Park was involved with both. Plus those Brits are some funny people. Check it out even if you don't have kids.
After the kids were tucked in bed, Mike and I tuned into Walk The Line. Very well acted by Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. I still can't get over how well they sung in this movie. Yeah, I know everybody says that, but it's true. I don't know what else I can say about it that hasn't been said better by someone else.
Today was devoted to the Entourage marathon. Because, folks, I love me some Vinnie Chase. And Ari Gold. And Johnny Drama. This show is perfection. Not watching it? You should be.
Finally tonight I watched The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio. Which I keep calling The Prize Winner of Defiance *Idaho* for some unknown reason. In any case, it was a very sweet movie. A little quirky in that the main character, the Prize Winner, would at time talks directly to the camera in her role as narrator. This is Julianne Moore at her best. I love her in this role. This movie is a true story based on the memoir of the same name. The story was written by said Prize Winner's daughter. I really need to pick up the book. It's been my experience that the book will be far superior to the movie, no matter how great I think the movie is.
So that's it. What about you? See any good movies this weekend?

I think you're a better reviewer than you give yourself credit ... "The Blair Witch Project for the pre-school set" .. a great line about a superb flick .. I'd also highly Good Night and Good Luck, when the next adults' movie night rolls around
Good Night, and Good Luck is certainly on deck for Adult movie night. I hate when two movies I want to see are playing at the same time. I couldn't decide so I left it up to Michael.
Thanks for stopping by and for your nice comments.
I loved Prize Winner, made me want to enter more contests (been too lazy so far, hehe)
Great Movie.
I am hopelessly addicted to entering contests. You should give it a try. There's tons out there.
So far this year we've won a $50 gift card, a Roots yoga T-shirt and 1000 long distance minutes. No major prizes yet, but they'll come.
