Transcript of an Honest Mistake

I have managed to accumulate quite a collection of wedding and engagement rings. Now I didn't set out to collect wedding or engagement rings they've just sort of come to me. Some were bequeathed to me and rest were given to me for different reasons. Some I wear, others I don't. Not including my own wedding rings, I have 5 others.

My Dad's wedding band is one that was bequeathed to me. I used to wear it on a chain around my neck when I was younger. At some point I decided to stop doing that. I'm not really sure why. Since then it's been safely in my jewellry box in amongst the large earrings and chunky bracelets that were popular in the 80's. Recently Abby became interested in playing with my jewellry box so I moved my Dad's wedding band to my "ring dish" in the bathroom.

Mike: My ring feels tight.
Me: Oh really?
Mike: Yeah.
Me: Maybe you're retaining water. Is it that time of the month?
Mike: Haha, very funny. No I'm serious. I feel like it's strangling me. Look I can barely take it off.
Me: Well maybe your hands swelled a bit.
Mike: I just can't stand how tight it feels.
Me: Glancing at my ring dish. Umm, do you have the right ring on?
Mike: What do you mean the right ring?
Me: Holding up an identical gold band. I think you have the wrong ring on.
Mike: Looking at his hand. Well who's ring is this?
Me: It's my Dad's.
Mike: Damn your Dad had small hands.
