So that covers Wednesday, what's my excuse for Thursday? Well earlier in the week Mike picked up a rather nasty stomach bug that had him down for the count for two days. Remarkably it seemed like the rest of the family was going to avoid catching it. Then Thursday afternoon found us picking up a pukey Abby from the sitter's. She had started throwing up just after lunch. I have mentioned before what an awesome sitter we have and Thursday was further proof of that. I mean she looked after my sick little girl all afternoon, washed and dried Abby's dirty clothes and supplied her with new clean clothes, set Abby's sick bed up on her good couch, didn't seem to mind that Abby threw up on her floor as we were trying to get out the door and actually offered to have her back on Friday even if she was still sick. Yes, she is amazing!
Not long after we arrived home Thursday it became apparent that it wouldn't be long before I would be down for the count too. I spent the next 4 hours in that horrible in between stage, you know the one where you aren't throwing up yet, but you know that you will be eventually. While I was busy doing that Abby was busy throwing up any thing that passed her lips. She was such a trooper though. She never complained or cried even though the slightest sip of water would have her being violently ill in the next few minutes. Not long after Abby fell asleep it was my turn.
The morning found Abby, not surprisingly, both hungry and thirsty. She attempted a light breakfast of toast and apple juice only to have it reappear not long after. She gamely tried again with the same outcome. I proceeded much more cautiously with a few sips of water and had better results. After managing to keep water down for a few hours I thought a shower might make me feel a bit better. I left Abby on the couch with some cartoons on, but she wasn't there when I came back.
There's just nothing like your own bed when you're sick. Notice she took her "puke bowl" with her. She's one smart cookie.
She also bounces back pretty quick. For dinner she requested, ate and kept down hot dogs. She closed out the evening rocking out to Daddy's iPod.
In case you're wondering she's listening to Just the Good Ole Boys (theme song from the Dukes of Hazzard) on repeat.
As for me, I am feeling marginally better just not enough that I was eating hot dogs for dinner.

I hope everyone is feeling better by now. The picture of Abby in bed with the puke bowl is priceless. Oh, and btw, good choice on the hot dogs--that's quite a commitment when one is recovering from a stomach virus. Kudos to Abby once again :)
