And she's not even a teenager yet.

Tonight Mike was out running some errands, leaving me to hold down the fort on my own. I was unloading the dishwasher while waiting for Maya's before bed snack (oatmeal) to cool down.

Abby: Mom, can I help? I wanna do the dishwasher. (She was very much the happy helper tonight, folding laundry, playing with her sister and so on)
Me: Sure you can. Why don't you pull your chair over and put the glasses away?

With Abby unloading the top rack of the dishwasher I sit down to feed Maya her oatmeal

Abby: Mom, why do I have to do all the chores around here?

Okay, I'm not sure where she learned the word chores because were aren't currently living on a farm.

Me: Abby you said you wanted to do the dishwasher.
Abby: But why do I have to do everything around here?
Me: Abby you volunteered.
Abby: What's volunteered?
Me: It means you offered to do it.
Abby: No that's not what volunteering is.
Me: Rolls my eyes
Abby: Why do I have to do all the chores around here? I'm going to tell Daddy that you make me do everything.

I'd like to point out that the whole time we are having this conversation she never once stopped putting away the dishes.

Me: Okay, whatever Trevor.
Abby: Mom, can I feed Maya when I'm done this?

She is way too cute...and if you *ever* say you're experiencing writer's block and have nothing to blog about, I'm so not going to believe you ;)

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who has an obstinate daughter who already thinks she knows more than I do. "No, Mummy, actually it is ....." And this at 2 1/2. What's in store for me?

M - you're funny.

Karen - Actually is a big word around here too. I'm pretty nervous myself about the future. I've already got to be on my game to stay ahead of her sometimes.
