Grandma's Perfume

It came in the open window with the breeze and instantly I was back twenty-five years. Back to that wood paneled bowling alley of a rec room in a small war time house. Eating goldfish crackers and green Christmas wreath cookies. The TV tuned to the game. The hockey game. The baseball game. Her chair beside his at one end of the room. Family spread out across couches. Cousins spread out across floors. And Grandma in her chair, the smell of her perfume in the air.

What a sweet memory.

Isn't it nice when a memory sneaks up on us like that?

Oh, I love that! It makes me miss my own grandma.

Hey babe a pyschic once told me if I smell an odor that reminds me of someone passed on, it is their spirit around me.

How comforting to know they are there with you

I just love sensory memories. I have this tin of tea that, for some reason, smells like camp. Sometimes I take it out just to have a sniff.

They say that your nose remembers the most, and man do I love a good smell memory--yours is priceless :)

It is remarkable how "long" a smell can last tucked back in the recesses of our minds?

Thanks everybody for your nice thoughts.
