Monkey girl.

When Abby was born she was a very tiny very pink bundle. Abby was about an hour or so old the first time my Mom held her and said, "what a tiny little peanut." And so she was. Only 5 pounds at birth and just barely 15 pounds by the time she was one. She's always been a tiny little peanut. Now of course, she's caught up to the norm (whatever that is) and there's not much noticeable difference between her and her classmates. I don't call her peanut very often anymore, but I still do even though she tells me, often with much disgust, that she is not a peanut.

Fast forward four years and we have another very tiny very pink bundle. Her birth weight is even less than her big sister's was by a few ounces. And yet we don't call her peanut or any other nickname that would suitably highlight her petite size. Probably because she wouldn't be petite for long. At one she's now 20 plus pounds and is stronger and sturdier than Abby was at the same age. Which means she has the resources to get into a lot more stuff than Abby did. In fact if I walked into the living room tomorrow and saw her hanging from the ceiling fan I would in no way be surprised. Places I have found her include, but are not limited to, a quarter of the way up the stairs, almost behind the toilet, half way up the stairs, in the cupboard dismantling the toaster oven, licking dirty dishes in the dishwasher, seven eighths of the way up the stairs, on top of Abby's desk, on the couch, and all the way up the stairs, just to name a few. Her latest thing is throwing things in the garbage which is a whole other story, but the punchline is I have to pay to replace a library book at Abby's school.

Eventually after all the rescuing, the removing her from the top of things, the startled screaming when I notice she's suddenly at the top of the stairs Maya finally got a nickname. Monkey. Even still, I was shocked to discover her here.

And yes, after Mike found her there I did make her show me how she did it strictly for blogging purposes out of curiosity.

It's pretty cool to hear your voice, after only hearing it through the blog, if you know what I mean. Okay, gotta go now, Emily is begging to watch Maya again.

Thanks Karen. I actually forgot I spoke on it. Went back to listen to it and did the classic, I don't really sound like that do I? Glad Emily's enjoying it.

L - Yes she is. Persistent should probably be her middle name. Yeah, instead of Maya Mary Joyce I should change it to Monkey Girl Persistent.
