ba ba ba

Well there was no official tag, but we all know she wanted to. Of course even if she hadn't and she didn't, but lets not split hairs here I would have jumped all over this. Now the idea originally came from Living Out Loud.

And now for the rules......

1. Post about the one song that makes your heart sing, and uplifts your spirit every time you hear it. If you can provide a link to lyrics and/or audio that would be fabulous. But it's not essential, so don't worry about it if you can't.

2. Include a trackback to this post

3. Tag three others and ask them to include a trackback to your post and this one when they post.

Now the rules seem simple, but there is room for interpretation and since you're on my turf here I'm just going to interpret them however I like. For me a song that uplifts my spirit might not necessarily be the same song that makes my heart sing. So guess what?! You get two songs. Bet you never saw that one coming did you?

Okay so it's a poorly kept secret that I am a sap. A big ole softie. And music, oh it gets me every time. The list of songs that will bring a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye is endless. The ones that make my heart sing are, more often than not, love songs, like It's Your Love by Tim and Faith or My Wish by Rascall Flatts. Beautiful songs for sure, but the one that speaks right to my heart is Remember When by Alan Jackson. It sums up perfectly what I hope I end up with.

Remember When by Alan Jackson

Remember when I was young and so were you
And time stood still and love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
We made love and then you cried
Remember when

Remember when we vowed the vows
and walked the walk
gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when

Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other's hearts
Remember when

Remember when the sound of little feet
was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when

Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookin' back, it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are,
where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when

Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when

Remember when
Remember when

I can listen to that song endlessly and never get tired of it. So pretty.

Now we're going for smiles here. A song that gets my top tapping. That makes me want to sing-a-long at the top of my voice. The perfect happy song. I've spent many an afternoon singing this song to Kaffy as she will attest and sometimes she even sang along, Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond. I don't know what else I can say about it, for some reason it's always brought a smile to my face.

Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond

Where it began
I can't begin to knowin'
But then I know it's growin' strong

Was in the spring
And spring became a summer
Who'd have believed you'd come along

Hands, touchin' hands
Reachin' out
Touchin' me
Touchin' you

Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
I've been inclined
To believe they never would
But now I

Look at the night
And it don't seem so lonely
We fill it up with only two
And when I hurt
Hurtin' runs off my shoulders
How can I hurt when holdin' you

Warm, touchin' warm
Reachin' out
Touchin' me
Touchin' you

Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
I've been inclined
To believe they never would
Oh,Lord, no

Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
Sweet Caroline
I believed they never could
Sweet Caroline

And there you have it. Hey, I know why don't you play along too. Yeah you. I'm talking to you.

Neil Diamond was *thisclose* to making my list...I got caught up in too many ND choices, that was the problem.

And yes, I wanted to ;)
