could've ended in disaster

Tonight we ventured out to dinner with some friends and our kids and their kids. It had all the makings of a recipe for disaster. Six adults and four kids aged five, three, two and one. I'm sure the people sitting at the tables around ours were nervous. I mean, clearly the kids would be running around and screaming at the top of their lungs like they were orangutans while the parents ignored them . If I were them I'm pretty sure that's what I would be thinking.

But you know what? All the kids were great. Even Abby, who I was concerned about because she's going through this "I don't want to leave the house phase" that's just about on my last nerve, but that's a post for another time. They all coloured quietly while we ordered, ate their meals without fuss and got only slightly anxious while waiting for their mini ice cream cones. In fact they made way less commotion from the family of four beside us (kids were 'tweens). Excuse my while I post and open message to the dad at the next table... Maybe you're kids would take you seriously if you weren't wearing a fanny pack. Just a thought.

It was a proud moment for me, being able to have a meal in an actual restaurant with the girls. I'm not sure if the stars were all lined exactly write or my guardian angel was watching our for me, but I'll take it.

Congratulations! I know how hard it is to go out and eat in public with two small children (3yrs, & 1yr.) Good Luck with future outings.

PS. I agree, who can take someone who wears a fanny pack seriously. :)
