I have wasted away the better part of the day looking for a pay it forward type of project. If you are thinking this all stems from Dave's Ride for Africycle, you'd be right. Maybe I can't ride 100 miles on a bike in 8 hours. Or 24. Or, very likely, a week. I still have talents. Good marketable talents, but as I wandered aimlessly about the internet there was nothing that I felt matched up with me. After exhausting many many minutes searching I decided to come at this project a whole different way.
What did I really like to do? I like to think of myself as a crafty person, but I usually keep a very tight lid on that part of my personality. Why would I do that, I am sure you are wondering? Well crafting can be an expensive and time consuming thing and I have to tell you I am pretty tapped out of both. There used to be a time that I cross stitched and at the time I really loved it, but somewhere along the line I stopped doing it and to be truthful I really don't miss it. Then the light came on. When I was a younger girl someone taught me how to knit. I can't even remember who it was. Maybe my Mom. Perhaps my Grandma. Or it very well could have been Aaron's Mom when we were in sixth grade. The details may be foggy, but I remember I did enjoy knitting, even if I never progressed further than the basics.
Hmm maybe I could do something with my basic knitting skills. Yes, that would be perfect because I could knit while watching TV. I could multi-task. Now my internet wandering took me to all kinds of places that were looking for preemie toques for NICU's. Which would be awesome since I've had to take advantage of those NICU toques myself, but I have no idea how to knit a toque. Maybe I'll just work up to that. Then I found it. Scarves. I can make scarves to donate to Wesley Urban Ministries and I am excited about it. Of course it's been a while since I've done any knitting so any knitters out there feel free to pass along any pointers.

I knit, I found when I had been away from it for a while that I could do a dishcloth and since it is soooo simple it brought me back to where I should be.
