what's cooking wednesday - beyond basic burgers

Can you handle another burger recipe? This is getting to be like the soup addiction of last winter. You're just going to have to roll with it. I just couldn't pass this recipe up, it was unlike anything I had ever seen before.

*this is a Kraft recipe, so they recommend Kraft products, but I won't tell if you don't use them

Beyond Basic Burgers

1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup Kraft 4 cheese Italiano shreds
1 pouch Shake n Bake Italian coating mix
1/4 cup Kraft Original bbq sauce

Preheat barbecue to medium high heat. Mix 1 lb lean meat, cheese, Shake n Bake and 2 tbsp of the bbq sauce. Shape into 4 patties.

Grill 7-9 minutes on each side or until cooked through. Brush with remaining 2 tbsp Kraft bbq sauce during last 2 minutes of cooking.

Recipe Notes: This made a really great tasting burger and the Shake n Bake, well once it gets in the ground beef, it's like glue. So the burgers are surprisingly firm in their uncooked state. Some times home made burgers can be a little fragile, but not these ones. Great thing about this recipe is you can change things up and use a different Shake and Bake flavour, cheese and/or bbq sauce. Very versatile.

What is What's Cooking Wednesday and how can I play?

What's Cooking Wednesday was born out of a desire to get out of that "what's for dinner" rut. Playing is easy, wait until Wednesday rolls around and post a recipe that has been tried and tested by you. Pictures are always appreciated, but not necessary to play. Then drop me an email or leave a link in the comments letting me know you played so I can add you to the WCW weekly master list. And don't forget to link back here, the home of What's Cooking Wednesday.

Oh for those of you who were wondering (read Darlene) yes we did get the new barbecue and it's fantastic. Michael has cooked breakfast on it twice already.

Your grill is so beautiful. They don't make 'em like that here except for restaurants. Or big balconies. Hmm....

I'm very sorry that you live in Canada. If you lived closed, you had better believe that I would be at your house every Wednesday for the good food!!
