what's cooking wednesday - country salisbury steak

WCWjpg

In my first What's Cooking Wednesday two parter, here's the recipe for what was on the other half of my plate last week. See how smart I was separating those two? With 75% of the house sick I haven't cooked a proper meal in days it seems like.

Cheesy Smashed Potatoes

Country Salisbury Steak

1 1/2 lbs extra lean ground beef
1 pkg Stove Top Stuffing for chicken
1 1/4 cup water divided
3/4 cup chopped onion
2 cups fresh chopped mushrooms
1/2 cup Kraft bbq sauce

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix meat, stuffing mix, 1 cup of water and the onions until well blended. Shape into six 1/2 inch thick oval patties. Place on a cookie sheet.

Bake 25 minutes or until cooked through.

Meanwhile spray a skillet with cooking spray. Add mushrooms and cook on medium high heat 5 minutes or until lightly browned, stirring occasionally. Add barbecue sauce and remain 1/4 cup water. Reduce heat to low. Cook 1 -2 minutes until heated through. Serve over patties.

Recipe Notes; Well this was almost a slam dunk. Abby enjoyed it, Maya did not. I wouldn't really change anything. It was a quick easy meal and was great paired with the Cheesy Potatoes from last week. Good comfort food for those cold winter nights.

What is What's Cooking Wednesday and how can I play?

What's cooking Wednesday was born out of a desire to get out of that what's for dinner rut. Playing is easy, on Wednesday post a recipe that has been tried and tested by you and then pop over here and add your name to the Mr. Linky. When entering your name also add the name of the recipe in brackets and make sure you link to your What's Cooking Wednesday post and not just your blog's front page. And don't forget to link back here, the home of What's Cooking Wednesday.

So for example I would write Shan (Speedy Chicken Stir Fry) in the name section. For the URL section I would post this: http://shanrev.blogspot.com/2007/10/whats-cooking-wednesday-speedy-chicken.html

I'll let you in on a little secret. Much to Kaffy's chagrin, my WCW recipes are almost never made on a Wednesday. So feel free to cook and photograph whenever you have time and join us posting on Wednesday.

You have a typo. :) It's a funny one, and mushroom haters might agree with you.
I think you meant "add mushroom."

Thanks Julie, it really was.

Renae - Oops, just goes to show you always proof read kids.

Suze - I'm not sure how ground meat would travel. What kind of temps are we looking at down there?

If you're going to have a typo do it in style. At least that's my theory. :) That was a very stylish typo.
And I'm reading the recipe because I love them!! Yum.
