Abby is playing some elaborate imaginary game with her legion of Little Pets toys. She moves them purposefully around the living room, from the love seat to the coffee table and back again. The tiny dogs, cats, birds and frogs are attempting to rescue a mermaid or become mermaids themselves maybe? I'm not really sure, but I do know one is named Marianna. Which she is pronouncing Mah Ree Ah Na. The action moves to the side table near where I am folding laundry. I listen.
"I'm online." Abby, as one of the Little Pets is telling the rest. "All my friends are online too."
I am curious, so I ask, "Abby, do you know what online means?"
She turns to me, her hands already out in front of her mimicking the action of typing on a computer keyboard. "It means you're using the computer to look at lines."
Thankfully it's a little more interesting than that.
