project 366

I've always taken a lot of pictures on everything from my Grandpa's old pentax SLR (which out of all the cameras I have owned has always remained my most favourite) to film point and shoots to digital point and shoots to my cell phone. I covet a DSLR very much, but it seems like an extravagant purchase when our couches are literally falling apart beneath us. One day... maybe.  Anyway the past year I didn't take many pictures at all for a few reasons. My fuji point and shoot was behaving like a two year old, happy to take pictures at one moment and then refusing to even turn on the next despite fully charged batteries. The camera in my cellie was a miserable 1.3mp. It took some not so bad pictures in the sunlight and it's best feature was I always had it with me. Then the second half of last year really kicked my ass. Couple that with losing the first half of the year's pictures when my hard drive died.... well I was pretty sour on the whole picture taking thing.

This Christmas brought a new thing or two to my life. I upgraded my cellie to an android smart phone that I am crazy in love with. It comes with a 5mp camera. Today I downloaded a fun instagram-like app to play with. Thanks to Grandma Sandi, I replaced my misbehaving camera with a new point and shoot that I got for a steal. Thank you Boxing Day deals and Michael for using his lunch hour to pick it up for me. So those alone should go a long way to ensuring that I take many many more pictures this year.

New Year's Day found us at Grandma Linda and Papa's for dinner, as we finished I decided to do what the rest of the internet appeared to be doing.... project 366 - a photo a day. I thought, maybe, perhaps, I would attempt to do it with my cellphone.

Day one

I'm not going to lie to you guys, two days in and I was at a loss of what to take pictures of. I was pretty sure I was going to ditch the whole project. Then I thought it would go easier if I gave myself a theme each month. So I decided January's theme would be new....

Day 3 - New toy

Day 6 - New art

Then after hearing Maya say her birthday was January 19th for the 653rd time I switched my theme to Maya.

Day 11 - New suitcase

Day 12 - Busy

I haven't been uploading them everyday, but every few days when I think about it. I like having a theme to work towards every month. I think I can go the distance with that plan.

Is anybody else doing a Project366

i find the whole 365 thing very daunting and i don't have the discipline to lug around my giant dslr. but if i had a smart phone with a half decent camera, maybe i would. yes another reason the hubby needs to get a job! ;)

have fun. i look forward to seeing all of your snaps.

I really, really should... =) I am horrible sometimes, great at others. I carry my little nikon around all over, so I have no excuse. Do you mind me asking what your instagram-like app is? I have an android as well
