No! I'm Not Ready Yet

Being a stay at home Mom getting the mail is the highlight of my day. Aww who am I kidding? Getting the mail has always been the highlight of my day. Even more so since we embarked on this new frugal lifestyle. Now I'm even excited to get the bills since they're usually paid before they show up in the mail box. Of course I'm even more excited by the freebies that show up with increasing regularity. I mean who doesn't like to get free shampoo or instant potatoes or dishwasher tabs? So I was intrigued rather than frightened today when an over sized brown envelope showed up in my mail box this afternoon. It was a thin-ish envelope, no more than a couple of pieces of paper inside. There was no return address and it was labelled with a plain white address label printed by a computer. Hmm, I thought, maybe it's a free product coupon or just a regular old coupon or maybe a party invitation or information about a contest win. Oh the possibilities were endless. I knew it must be something good since it was addressed to Mr & Mrs R and not Occupant.

Now I have a strict rule regarding the sequence in which you open the mail. All interesting or exciting mail must be saved for the end. So I set the non-descript brown envelope aside and rushed through the 407 bill, the $5 cheque from doing a survey and a reminder notice about the Fair Board vote next week. Now it was time to open "the envelope"! Nothing had prepared me for the horror that was inside. As I pulled the letter out my eyes fell across the following:

Dear Parents:

We are really looking forward to welcoming your child to school next September.
blah blah blah

Sincerely
Mrs. Principal

!!AHHHHH!!

It was our welcome to the school package. Included in said package were:
  • the date and details of our "meet the teacher" interview for next September.

  • Abby's "gradual entry" start date and her full time start date

  • instructions on what to do her first day of school

  • the school year calender listing which days Abby will be attending school, which days are PA Days, which days are school holidays and which days will be early dismissal days.

  • a note from her teacher outlining which supplies she'll need to start the year (box of kleenex, change of clothes, 3 cans of play doh, some magnetic letters and a knapsack among other things)

So it's official. Abby does have a place in Junoir Kindergarten. Let the freaking out begin.
