Noodle Day

Yesterday Abby and Maya had doctor's appointments. Mike had booked them both in about a month ago. Not long after that Abby I were watching Daniel Cook on Treehouse. As luck would have ti our boy Daniel was himself at the doctor's for a needle. Ahhh perfect, I thought, this will be a good way to get Abby ready for her appointment. So we talked about what was happening on the show and how she was going to the doctor to have a needle just like Daniel Cook and did she see Daniel didn't think it was too bad. In fact he didn't even cry. After that conversation Abby was telling everybody she knew that she was going to the doctor's to get a "noodle".

As the day approached Abby was actually looking forward to going. She knew she needed to get the noodle for school and, well, she's just way too excited about going to school.Yesterday we get to the doctor's office and Abby has decided that it will be a great idea if Maya gets her noodle first and she'll just wait. Ummm sure. Let Maya go first so then Abby can decide that she's not having a turn at all. I don't think so.

The first order of the appointment was to get all the statistical stuff out of the way. Weight (16 pounds for Maya, 39 pounds for Abby), height, listen to their hearts etc. Then it was time for the noodles. Abby was on deck first. The second the doc told me to grab her elbow to help hold her steady I knew it wasn't going to be good, but I was in no way prepared for the scream that would come out of my child. By the time the second shot was done she was in near hysterics and I will admit to having a tear or two in my eye as well. Michael held Maya for her shots and it was a good thing, because I really didn't think my nerves could take any more. Maya didn't scream nearly as loud or as long, but she did do her best to convey her displeasure at being poked with a sharp metal object. That finished up our appointment and as well all filed out of the tiny (think phone booth, only smaller) examination room our doctor gave me a pat on the back and advised me to go home and have a stiff drink.
