What's Cooking Wednesday - The birthday edition.

I think it's safe to say I love What's Cooking Wednesday. I mean I did invent it, so I must have some warm and fuzzy feelings for it, right? However, as much as I love it sometimes life just happens to get in the way, but even still you need to eat so without further ado I give you what was cooking tonight;

I guess this is the year of the never ending birthday. Tonight Mike organized a little surprise birthday dinner with the girls from work and by organize I mean he called Darlene and she pretty much took care of everything. Or at least that's how he tells me it went down and I believe him. They did a great job, I was totally surprised. The fact that Mike spent three hours last night cleaning the entire house didn't even tip me off.

I've worked at the same place for a long time, longer than I've been married and I've been lucky to have made some pretty amazing friends there. Darlene and Lynn were there the day I started, Kaffy came along a little later. Then we have my occasional date Nancy, followed by Linda, Lindsey and then Cassie, the newbie who is leaving us tomorrow.

This party was Mike's little gift to me. He is well aware of how much fun we can all have together. How we can laugh an entire evening away. How Nancy can have me doubled over, laughing so hard I can't breathe. How teasing Kathy never gets old. How we have a million inside jokes and an easy mockery with each other that only comes after years of friendship. We can and do have a lot of fun at work, but it's not quite the same as "off-work" time together. So thanks to all for tonight it was and you are a wonderful gift.

Happy Birthday!!! I'm always so jealous of your get-togethers; I'm going to have to fly me to Canada one of these days so I can crash ;)

You're welcome any time you want to catch a flight. That's such a sweet thing to say. Thanks, that means a lot.

Thanks for everything Darlene. Love you!
