family game night

One thing I knew I wanted to do when I had a family of my own was to have family game night. I love playing games even though I didn't come from a board game loving family. Which isn't to say we didn't have board games growing up, Operation and Clue were two of my favourites, but we never had a designated night that we all sat down and played. More often than not it would be Dave and I are sitting on the living room floor and arguing about how much the rent was on Marvin Gardens with two houses.

So I started family game night, not really sure how it was going to go over. Mike is not a huge fan of board games necessarily, but he does enjoy the time spent together. As for Abby, she loves it. Every night of the week would be family game night if she got to choose. So for her birthday we got her a couple of new games to add to the FGN rotation. One was the Dora version of "Pop-o-matic" Trouble and the other, that Mike picked out, was The Tractor Tippin' game. A game based on the move Cars and the scene .... SPOILER ALERT for all those who have yet to see the movie and don't want any of the plot revealed...... where Mater and Lightening McQueen go out tractor tippin'.

Tonight we had an impromptu family game night with special guests, Papa and Grandma Linda came over for coffee and before they knew they were tippin' tractors and hoping they didn't "wake Frank". Abby of course was in her glory, micro managing the game play like only she can. I'm not sure what exactly would happen if Papa was to move his man, chosen for him by Abby, backwards around the board, but I'm sure it couldn't be good. Thanks to Abby we'll never have to find out.
