what's cooking wednesday - caramelized steak skewers

I think it's safe to say that we barbecue about 6 night out of 7 these days. We do this for a myriad of reasons, first we love it, but more importantly there is this huge vein in Mike's forehead that begins to bulge and often pulse whenever I attempt to use the stove in the summer. So barbecue I do, even though our barbecue has begun to rot out and both burners are cock-eyed, so there's a real learning curve when it comes to grilling anything that takes a little finesse. I came across this recipe and thought it would be easier to grill steak in smaller pieces. We did look at new barbecues tonight and we found a beautiful Char-Broil that we're really hoping the Barbecue Fairy leaves on our back deck.

Caramelized Steak Skewers

1 lb beef sirloin steak, thinly sliced
1/4 cup Kraft Balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing, divided
1/4 cup kraft BarBQ sauce
1 tsp dijon mustard

Toss steak with 2 tbsp of the dressing; let stand 10 minutes to marinate. Meanwhile, combine 2 tbsp dressing, the barbecue sauce and mustard, set aside.

Preheat barbecue to medium high heat. Thread steak onto 8 long soaked wooden or metal skewers.

Grill skewers 6 minutes or until steak is cooked through, turning after 3 minutes and brushing generously with the barbecue sauce mixture.

Recipe Notes: What can I say this was great as is. Nothing to change here.

Mike: 3.5/5
Abby: Can I have pasta instead?

What is What's Cooking Wednesday and how can I play?

What's Cooking Wednesday was born out of a desire to get out of that "what's for dinner" rut. Playing is easy, wait until Wednesday rolls around and post a recipe that has been tried and tested by you. Pictures are always appreciated, but not necessary to play. Then drop me an email or leave a link in the comments letting me know you played so I can add you to the WCW weekly master list. And don't forget to link back here, the home of What's Cooking Wednesday.

this looks really good, have to get some steak out of the deep freeze for tomorrow.

I also have the same problem with our barbeque, but mine is bent all out of wack since a cow turned around on my porch and used the barbeque to park her bum on.
