the one where i beg for forgiveness

Welcome to the post where I grovel and beg for forgiveness from my beloved Kaffy. You see it was recently Kaffy's birthday and well, I dropped the ball. There is no other way to say it. I totally let her down. I completely suck and now I know how my brother felt when he forgot my 30th birthday. Well to be fair I didn't actually forget her birthday. I did "Facebook" her that day because she was on holidays and I didn't get to see her. And I did get her a gift. A very thoughtful one too, I mean who couldn't use more dish soap? What I neglected to do was her birthday post, dumb ass that I am. Which really pissed me off when I realized it today because this was a milestone birthday for Kathy. Yep, she was 150 this year. Or at least that's what it said on the birthday notice at work. I have to tell you she's amazingly well preserved for her age.

Now I have to admit as much as I love her 150 things would be a little too much Kaffy, so why not 48 reasons which is just some random arbitrary number I picked out of the air.

1. Her laugh. Oh her laugh. Once Kathy starts laughing I have to start laughing. Everyone around her has to start laughing. She's got one of those laughs.
2. She laughs easily. So you get to hear it a lot.
3. She is generous. Some would argue to a fault.
4. We have shed some tears together.
5. She's our Tour Guide Barbie. Our event co-ordinator. If we are doing something or buying something as a group Kathy's the one that's pulls it and/or us all together.
6. She faithfully reads here every morning. Good Morning Kathy!
7. She doesn't mind.... too much... that we prank her every chance we get.
8. She's a great cook.
9. She's married to a great cook.
10. She thinks I'm a pretty good cook.
11. Her daughters are amazing women.
12. She is such a giving Mom.
13. She's a wonderful Aunt.
14. Her bruschetta. YUM!
15. She's a great listener.
16. Her ear lobes are at least 2 pounds lighter.
17. She has a little bum now.
18. She doesn't seem to mind the multiple nicknames I've given her over the years which include, but are not limited to my friend Kathy M, Kaffy, scarybush and Melanie Melonballs.
19. She throws a great party.
20. She thinks my kids are cute..... and she's right.
21. She wears her heart on her sleeve.
22. I am so thankful for her friendship.
23. She's got my back.
24. She's not afraid to speak her mind.
25. Her hand writing is lovely.
26. She buys beautiful cards.
27. She's just so pretty.
28. She's always willing to help out a friend.
29. She's helped me out more times than I can count.
30. She's my Hell's Kitchen buddy, but I still can't get her to watch Survivor or Big Brother.
31. Her curls, they are lovely.
32. She didn't invite me to the Elton John concert..... no wait... that's the thing I don't love about her.
33. She's becoming the crazy cat lady.
34. She's a good doggie Grandma to Layla.
35. She doesn't seem to mind that our teasing carries over to facebook.
36. She can't drink Canadian wine.
37. Although it's pretty funny when she does. For those of us watching anyway.
38. She's great fun at parties, weddings, bar mitzvahs or sporting events.
39. She's interested in my friends and family.
40. She's a team player.
41. We've been friends for nearly a decade.
42. Work is so much more fun with her there. Whatever will we do next week?
43. She made her Dad live in the cellar.
44. She lets me be friends with her sister and never puts me in the middle.
45. I loved putting my big pregnant belly on her and she loved it too, no matter what she said to the contrary.
46. She can multi-task like no one I've ever seen before.
47. She's very likely going to forgive me for forgetting to do this.
48. Kathy, you are a true gift in my life and I love you!
