moms

Happy Mother's Day to all my favourite Mothers out there, the blogging ones and the non blogging ones. I hope you were all appropriately spoiled. There were no actual gifts for me, but I do consider the new computer we bought last week as more than enough. No more banging my head against the computer screen. Abby is thrilled to be getting our old one and has been bugging me incessantly about when I'll be moving it into the playroom. Which is going to mean some rearranging and so forth, but that's a post for another time.

Today is about the Mothers. Moms are great. I came with one and inherited a couple along the way. I'm a lucky lucky girl. And now I'm a Mom too. And I can only hope that one day Abby and Maya feel as lucky as I do whenever I think about my collective Moms. Cream of the crop, I got. The thing is my Moms already know how great they are to me. They already know how much I love and depend on them, so today I'm going to write about me and how I know I'm a Mom.

I buy my sunglasses at the dollar store because I know eventually they end up snapped in half while in the hands of a child. Or they will constantly be smeared with something, most likely saliva. Why do they feel the need to lick the lens?

I spend 85% of the dinner hour up getting something for somebody. The red cup because the blue one won't do, a spoon instead of a fork, the forgotten pepper, make sure I turned the oven off, make some "pocklate milk", napkins, a kleenex to wipe a nose and so on.

I make complicated and time consuming treats for my kids just for that look of astonishment that comes over their face.

I say no, even when it makes me unpopular.

I use my blue boxes and green cart to their full advantage. I'm doing my part to make this world a tiny bit better.

I give my time to causes that are important to me to teach them to give back.

I have a voice for my kids that I don't think I've ever had for myself.

I go to the bathroom with an audience.

I've learned to live on very little sleep.

Everyday I write, for them.

Happy Mother's day all!!

happy mother's day to you as well Shan! Sounds like it was a nice day.

My sweet Emily was my Mother's Day gift six years ago. So Mother's Day will always mean something a littl extra special to me...

Happy Mother's Day!

Thanks for visiting my blog!

I'm totally with you on the dinner routine. I might as well just stand up with my plate in my hand. IT would save me the time it takes to get up 40 times during the meal to get the Spiderman cup instead of the McDonald's one, the spoon instead of the fork...:-)
