I don't think I've ever stayed in a hotel in my life. Well maybe I have, but it's not coming to mind right now. No question the majority of my traveling stays have been in motels. And I'm sure there is a difference. Mike and I are coming up on our first week of vacation soon and he's suggesting a night away for the two of us. Last year we took of to the Falls with Auntie Yoli and a great time was had by all. Although last year we spent almost the entire trip trying to find Maya a pair of crocs in her size. Seriously, it was an epic quest worthy of Indiana Jones himself. And since we accomplished that and she's still wearing them, I'm not sure what we'll do this time around. Although a ride in that giant ferris wheel has come up once or twice.
Now we do have a regular place we like to stay at, but it's a bit of a drive from the actual falls. Which works out great for the ole pocket book, but this time I'd kind of like to see how the other half lives. So tonight has found both Mike and I scouring discount hotel room sites trying to find a place within the following parameters; that there be Hotel in the name. A view of the falls. And that's an actual view not if you go out on the balcony with binoculars and lean over the railing as far as you can without falling over you can see a smidge of it kind of view. And the place better be higher than two floors. Oh and you have to actually go inside to get to your room. Via the elevator. Yeah we're going to live the high life. And it has to be on par or at least close to what we normally pay. Should have no problem finding that.

Just the two of you?! That sounds completely romantic and absolutely wonderful. I hope you find a great HOTEL and have a relaxing time - you deserve it!
I'm getting a bit jealous thinking about it. ;-)
That sounds awesome! Have you checked hotwire? You might find a kicking deal, and it sounds like you're not really attached to a specific property. They won't tell you which hotel it is until you book, but you're guarenteed a level of quality.
J and I LOVE priceline.com. We only ever ask for 5 star hotels. First, we check out the 5 star hotels available in a city to see if welike our options. We'll do a 4 star if a city doesn't have 5's.
Last year, for our anniversary, our room was not to our liking, so we asked for another room. I was concerned they wouldn't give it to us, because we got the room so cheap. But they had available rooms and were very gracious to move us to a higher floor, away from whatever the problem was.
I always do the 'pick your price' rate and LOWball really low. My former boss and I used to love doing this when he traveled alone. It was a major adrenaline rush to see what was the cheapest rate we could eek out.
Have fun! We're motel goers, too. LOL Though I think I use the words rather interchangeably, I do concede there is a difference. Enjoy your time, and take lots of pics to share!
