tiny moment - sleepover

Now that Maya is in a big girl bed the question of sleepovers has come up. There was one attempt a few weeks ago that was unsuccessful. A couple of nights ago Abby asked if they could try again.

It took them forever to fall sleep and I did find myself on more than one occasion yelling up the stairs, asking them to be quiet and go to sleep. I contemplated, more than once, sending Abby back to her own bedroom.

And then I thought about it for a moment. So what if they were chattering away to each other long past their bedtime? Nobody had to get up early the next morning. Then I remembered reading some bit of parenting advice, somewhere long since forgotten, that letting your kids do relationship bonding type stuff far outweighs any inconvenience to you. Or something along those lines.

Seems like pretty good advice.

That's good to know. Maddie and Jamie share a room and there is a whole lotta' relationship bonding going on every night. It lasts much longer in the summer (with the sun up later) than the winter...but, like you say...it's not like they have school the next day so I figure that's alright.

(cute pic. of the girlies).

That is so sweet. Whenever my stepdaugher is here my son camps out in her room. They make a comfy bed on the floor and have a grea time. have a good weekend.

Priceless! I loved hanging out & talking to my sisters all night long. I hope my kids will find some of that bonding. She's 5, he's 1 so I am not sure where the common ground will come from.

Normie - I wish I could remember where I read it, but the thought did stay with me. I have heard that sharing a room is a good experience as well.

Melissa - Aww that sounds so cute.

Heidi - It the same with my girls. Abby is 6 and Maya 2. Somehow they've managed to find it.

Kellan - thanks, you too.
