timeline of a fridge repair

7:15 PM - Mike's stepdad (Papa OB) arrives to fix the fridge. (What I had accomplished was a temporary fix)

7:16 PM - Papa OB requests the use of Mike's tools. Knowing Mike has a fairly well stocked garage he didn't bother to bring his tool box.

7:17 PM - Mike begins looking for the garage keys. They are not hanging on the key rack.

7:18 PM - Mike remembers the keys are in his jacket pocket.

7:19 PM - Mike remembers his jacket is in the girls' wagon. In our locked garage. Our free standing garage, meaning it is not connected to the house.

7:21 PM - I recheck both garage doors. They are locked tight.

7:23 PM - Mike sets about removing one of the rear windows. From there he should be able to reach the tools Papa OB needs.

7:24 PM - While holding the flashlight I realize I can easily fit through the window and unlock the big car door from the inside. For the record it does not have an automatic opener.

7:25 PM - I have been in the garage (boy that work bench is a lot higher than I thought before I jumped off of it.) and out the car door. Mike collects the tools Papa OB needs and his jacket.

7:30 PM - The garage keys are not in Mike's jacket pocket. He realizes this after he has locked the garage back up. This time forgetting to turn off the lights inside.

7:31 PM - Mike is asking if I will please crawl back through the window and unlock the door again. The keys must be on his work table.

7:32 PM - Back outside for Mike to dismantle the window one more time and for me to take that giant leap off the work bench.

7:33 PM - Mike happens to look down and see the garage keys, where they had been since they fell out of the lock sometime this afternoon, on the walkway right in front of the garage door.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about taking away his key privileges at this point. I'm not sure if we could blame this one on the surgery or should we just go with the cold? Sometimes I wonder if he does this kind of stuff just so I'll have something to write about.

What was I saying earlier? Oh yeah..... longest October evah!!

Oh holy crap, that is funny. But only because it didn't happen to me. Maybe it wouldn't be so funny.

However, to make you feel better, when I was in university, one of my housemates kept locking me out of the house when he went to work and I was out. (I kept forgetting my keys too). One Friday night I came back from some kind of dress-up event, had no purse as I shunned purses of all kinds then. The house was locked. I had to climb through the kitchen window which was high up above the sink. I climbed through with the dress hiked up above my underwear because I didn't want to rip it. I heard noises. Looked back across the next yard and saw that all the families were filing out of the mosque two doors over.

Yah. Probably not what they were expecting.

Or maybe. Their mosque was located among a bunch of student houses after all.

Bummer. That does not sound like a fun evening. But at least it was a great story! I laughed, I cried, I felt your pain. But then I laughed again...

Shan, I think this story holds up to Karen's which makes me laugh out loud every time I hear it.

October is officially half over. Nothing but a smooth ride here on in.

Karen - oh that is funny! Just goes to show you it could always be worse. At least I managed to get in the window without giving the neighbours a show:)

Kristina - Just another day in the life around here it seems.

Julie - I have one week left! Things are actually much better now that the stitches are out now as well. He's back to about 85%. And he can finally change a diaper. That really excites me!!
