For the past couple of weeks Maya has been singing this song that our sitter taught her. Only problem -- we had no idea what she was saying. At all. And we're her parents. We should be fluent in Maya. We spent a few days trying to decipher the code....
we went to the animal fair, the birds and the bees were there, the old racoon by the the light of the moon.... One of my favorite bed time songs. She's good!
Or I should say those are the lyrics as I know them. I'm not fluent enough in Maya to be sure she was actually singing the same words, but I caught enough to recognize the song. Did you know the monkey gets drunk?
I went to the animal fair, the birds and the beasts were there, the big baboon by the light of the moon was combing his auburn hair... the monkey bumped the skunk, which sat on the elephant's trunk, the elephant sneezed, and fell to his knees, and that was the end of the monk!!
I've been on baby hiatus with little time or energy for the online world but I'm slowly returning to check things out. :) I might even blog myself soon.

I definitely heard "monkey" in there. I must admit the tune did not exactly ring a bell, though! So cute :).
Yep, I heard "monkey" and so did the girls but none of us know the song.
Video is very cute, though. Hmmm...someone got highspeed! ;-)

Wow, with Renae's translation and these lyrics in front of me: http://www.hartenshield.com/animalfair.html ...that was some impressive singing!

Renae - Hey! Good to hear from you again! No I didn't know the monkey got drunk, but it does explain how he fell out of his bunk.
Lady - yep, she did pretty good.
Leah - I think so too.
Darlene - I'd never heard it before.
