thursday throwdown - bliss

So The Mommy Project posted a new throwdown for last week - to find your bliss. I can't say I'm surprised at the topic because I know she's well on her way to finding her own bliss. Which is awesome and I am so excited for her even though it does mean she has no time to twitter or blog or facebook.

And what about me? What about my bliss? Well it's funny you should ask. A few weeks ago I had a dream. Let me just pause here and say I realize that nobody ever wants to hear about somebody else's dreams. Such a yawnfest, right? But it's important to the story so I'll try to keep it as brief as possible. In my dream, for some strange reason, my Mom had bought herself an orchard. On the property was a little bakery and she asked me if I would like to run it for her. I was elated. Truly, so excited about the idea and then I woke up. I figured it must be a sign right?

Mike and I talk about opening a diner and it's usually just for jokes, but who knows what the future holds. In the meantime I think I'm going to try dipping my toe into what keeps me up late which, besides blogging, is baking. My plan is to have cookie listings up on my Etsy site by the weekend. And who knows where it might go from there. Grandma Linda and I used to make some incredible chocolate spoons back in the day.

To get the ball rolling on this mad little adventure of mine I'm offering up a little giveaway. Leave me a comment either here or on facebook letting me know what your favourite kind of cookie is and on Sunday I'll draw a winner for 2 dozen Rolo cookies. Ever had a Rolo cookie before? Picture perfectly delicious chocolate cookie dough wrapped around a Rolo, rolled in sugar and then baked. It is chocolate and caramel nirvana.

Good luck!

My favourite is a cookie I make called Caramel Pecan Cookies (I'll send you the recipe if you want). Julie knows it from our knitting classed and my baking business.

I haven't made the Rolo cookies since that first time. I think that would be a great post-baby celebration cookie, eh?

Now *this* is a contest I can get behind! I have to say, I've been salivating at the thought of trying one of your cookies-on-a-stick someday. I didn't know you had an Etsy shop -- what is the shop name?

My favourite kind of cookie is meringues. My mom used to make them in delicate shades of pink and green. Mmmmmm. I have a good friend who makes them with chocolate chips in them and OH MY, they are so good.

I think you'd be so awesome as a baker with your own shop. Let me know if you'd like to add any pies to your offerings -- I can set you up!

Honestly I have never met a cookie I didn't like....ginger cookies, chocolate chip, peanut butter (especially the ones with a hershey kiss in the top), the list goes on and on. Mmmmm....coookies!

Good luck finding your bliss. I too think that owning a bakery/coffee shop would be awesome. To get to meet people & hopefully have a community. So awesome.
