A Flying Horse

This is without a doubt the truest thing I have ever read on the internet. Thanks to Dave for sending me the link to that site. There's some funny funny stuff there. I could waste a lot of time there and really, isn't that what the internet is all about?

It's a well documented fact (read old wives tale) that the second child is a holy terror. How many times have you heard about the second child if we'd had him/her first we wouldn't have had anymore. I've already had people comment to me that Maya will give Abby a run for her money. I, apparently foolishly, thought it would take longer than a month and three days. Today Abby was reduced to tears by her little sister.

The three of us were in Maya's room this morning and I was attempting to get her dressed with Abby's help. For her part Maya was screaming her head off because that's what babies do when it's time to change clothes. (Follow the link in the first paragraph for more on that topic.) Abby is singing and talking to her in a useless attempt to calm her down. With nothing left her in little bag of tricks she offered Maya one of her beloved plastic horses. To make sure Maya could see it, Abby leaned it right up against her nose. "Look Mommy. Look. Baby Maya loves my horsie." Of course the horsie did nothing to stop the hysterical screaming and arm flailing that was going on, but it was a very sweet gesture on Abby's part. She really is a great big sister. Along with the flailing goes the clutching and that's how one of Maya's tiny little hands ended up wrapped around the horsies back leg. I tried to extract it from her grasp as I scooped her up, but she had that baby death grip on it. Well what could it hurt for her to hold on to it? She'll eventually flail again and drop it. And that's just what she did. Too bad it happened to be hanging over Abby's upturned face when she did so. Now I called it a plastic horse, but in reality it's actually a pretty hard rubber material. It bounced right off that soft spot of cheek right under the eye. Oh my can you imagine the screaming and crying that followed? Poor Abby was left with a nice red mark on her cheek. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Abby, while looking up Maya's nose. "Mom I think Baby Maya has a bat in the cave. You know a booger."
