Well today was a bit of a shocker. It is, as you may know, Valentine's Day. Mike and I haven't really celebrated Valentine's day in a few years. We don't really go in for those big romantic gestures. So imagine my surprise when he not only bought a gift for Abby but one for me as well.
Abby came down this morning to a card and a small box of Dora chocolate hearts. She was quite happy. She even shared her chocolates with Maya and I. She did get quite angry with me after she caught me eating Maya's chocolate. I didn't think Maya's palate was sophisticated enough to truly appreciate a chocolate heart with rice crisps.
As for me, well what I got isn't fit for public consumption. Just joking, we aren't perverts. Michael bought me a very nice nightgown. Very pretty. Thanks to wife #2 for helping him pick it out. To make it a perfect evening he even cooked dinner. It was the same Indian dish that Dave made for us last time he and Mel were here. Very yummy. Abby got chicken nuggets for her dinner. She's not to keen on the Indian food. Maya, with her impecable timing, woke up for a bottle just as we put dinner on the table. Guess what, Mike let me eat dinner while he fed her. He even sat at the table with me while she had her bottle. He's definitely in the running for husband of the year. I hope he's pacing himself though, it is only February.
As for Mike. Well the girls made him some Valentine's . I'm not going to lie to you, Maya wasn't a big help with hers. She slept in her car seat through the entire production. Abby saw that I was working like a dog for Maya and expected the same treatment. I'm now a pro at the construction paper heart. Abby and I also made him white cake cupcakes. White cake being his favourite. Abby's coming along with the egg cracking. No shell in the batter this time. After I frosted them I let her decorate them with red sprinkles. That stuff really stains the skin, not to mention the tongue, but she had fun. Click on the picture of Abby to see just how red she got.
Ahh it wasn't all one big love in today though. Abby got annoyed with Mike at one point tonight and called him a rather insulting name. Not the best parenting technique, but I couldn't stop laughing. I would have been rolling on the floor if I hadn't had Maya in my lap. I mean what else can you do when your three year old calls her father a pencil with all the anger she can muster up in her 3 foot frame.
