For the last three days Maya's had the same nurse, who really is fantastic. As soon as she saw me this afternoon she just smiled and said Maya was perfect last night. She didn't even wait for me to ask the question. So that makes 3 days now that Maya hasn't had a breathing incident. Almost half way there. It seems very close and yet at the same time so very far away. I'm still not trying to get too excited about it.
Dad and I went down to see Maya this afternoon. I made arrangements for Abby to go to the sitters. Which she was not happy about when she heard me talking on the phone. She's really learned how to drive that knife through my heart. After I got off the phone with Lyn she asked me what I was talking about. So I told her she was going to the sitter's while Papa and I went to visit Baby Maya. "Don't you want to stay home with me?" she practically whined. So there we sat together on the couch while I tried to explain for the billionth time why Maya was in the hospital and that I loved them both very much. She is trying, but it's a lot for her to figure out. It's not only the amount of time we spend away from her it's also the amount of time the two of us spend on the phone updating people about what's going on. Even Lyn noticed today that she's not herself. Abby was acting up a bit at the sitter's today. Nothing major, but stuff she doesn't normally do. She was in time out when we arrived to pick her up. Mike and I have certainly noticed that's she's acting out more than she normally does. She's also gotten very good at ignoring both of us when we speak to her. All the more reason we're hoping Maya's cleared to come home soon.
Dad and I were with Maya about an hour and a half. So we both got a lot of cuddle time in. She was being positively adorable and pulling lots of funny faces at Papa. She was horribly gassy though and kept farting and for a little girl they really did stink. I think Dad thought I was kidding until her had his turn holding her. She didn't stay awake for very long this afternoon, but then she didn't have the hiccups like she usually does after she eats. Have I mentioned I cant wait until she comes home?
