Yesterday Maya was scheduled to have her 4 month needle and a check up. At 10 in the morning I finally went upstairs to wake Abby up. She's usually up by 8, but yesterday morning she just kept on sleeping. Not long after waking she proceeded to vomit all over the living room. A touch of the head revealed a fever and I settled her on the couch with all the stomach bug neccesities. I called Mike at work to ask him to bring home some crackers, apple juice and tylenol. The only tylenol I had in the house was grape flavoured and Abby will not take anything purple. I also informed him he would have to take Maya for her needle solo. He immediatley suggested I cancel the appointment. Ummm don't think so there Sparky. I assured him he could handle it, that he didn't need to do anything but take her to the appointment get her undressed and hold on to her while she had her needle. He remained skeptical, but agreed to take her.
An hour after a dose of fever reducer Abby was running laps around the kitchen table, talking without pausing to take a breath and asking for oreo cookies. Since she slept most of the day yesterday she was eager to start her day at 3:30 am. I finally gave up the fight and brought her downstairs at around 5 am. This was after she had moved half of the contents of her bedroom into our bedroom. I thought she might crash and have a nap this afternoon, but she's still going strong.
Okay wait a minute this post was supposed to be about Maya. Mike did successfully take her to have her needle and it was pretty easy, as he kept informing me. Repeatedly. Maya is now 14 pounds 7 ounces. That makes her a little less than a pound under what her big sister was a one year old. Mike was concerned that maybe she was an overly large baby, but she's dead smack in the middle of her growth chart, it was Abby that was freakishly small. The best news of all was that her heart murmur has disappeared. That means the hole has closed itself. The doc is going to give it a listen in another couple of months, but yesterday she couldn't hear it at all. Way to go Maya!!
