sometimes 4 years can seem like 40

As of the end of day Friday Mike and I will once again be on holidays. Now last time we were off I had lots of mad money saved up and a plan of things to do while we were off. This time, not so much. I mean the mad money is there, but I'm having a hard time planning out what we should do. Part of the problem is the girls and their age difference, right now it seems really huge.

A long time ago I planned on spacing out my kids at around two years apart, maybe two and a half, definitely no more than three. This, of course, was before I fully realized it would be easier to cage sand or herd cats than it is to plan out your children. They tend to arrive when they're ready and not a moment before. So here we are and the girls are four years apart and their interests and abilities are vastly different.

Now I do have a few things up my sleeve, for example, Mike and I are going to be taking in the Titanic exhibit at the Science Centre. Which we are both pretty excited about. I've always been interested in the story of the Titanic. Now Mike, well I've always said there isn't a ship at the bottom of the ocean anywhere that Mike doesn't know about. The girls will be spending the day with my Mom, if all goes according to plan and that's a big treat for all of them. Granny lives the furthest away so she doesn't get as much time as the rest of the grandparental team does.

Abby's school gave us a free pass for mini-golf and I thought she might like to give it a try. Abby is also desperate to go to Marineland. She tells me almost hourly that she want to go and pet the white whales and then she starts singing their jingle. Everyone loves Marineland, but you know what? Turns out most people don't, about 95% of people I've talked to have hated Marineland. And really, after checking of the price of admission I'm not so in love myself. $31.00 for Abby to get in? WTF? Abby also really wants to see Ratatouille. All these things are great ideas, but there's one thing missing...... Maya. I mean we could take her to Marineland, but let's be honest her level of enjoyment won't be all that great. Not to mention trying to plan the visit around her nap or, dare I suggest it, have her forgo her nap for the day. So it's a bit of a struggle to find family friendly fun that's also affordable. I am accepting any and all suggestions.

I can't tell you what to do with this one but I can tell you that Marineland played too big a role in my childhood (as you know I grew up in Fonthill). To completely date myself, a big thrill for my sister was to go on a class trip there and have Ricky Schroeder be the celebrity making an appearance that day. Apparently there was swooning.
