what's cooking wednesday - cheesy appetizer loaf

I stumbled upon this quite by accident in the What's Cooking magazine from Kraft. It seemed a quick and simple way to perk up a pasta dinner. Which is exactly what I was looking for because Michael only just tolerates spaghetti normally, but meatballs and/or garlic bread are just enough to sway his opinion.



Cheesy Appetizer Loaf

3 tbsp Miracle Whip Dressing
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 pkg (200g) Kraft mozzarella shredded cheese
2 tbsp chopped spanish olives
1 loaf french bread cut lengthwise in half
paprika

Preheat broiler. Mix dressing, garlic powder, cheese and olives together.

Spread mixture evenly onto cut surface of bread. Sprinkle lightly with paprika. Plcae bread on baking sheet.

Broil 6 inches from heat, 1 minute or until cheese is melted. Cut into 24 slices. Serve warm.

Recipe Notes: Well first off the olives were out because, blech. I chopped up some green onion instead. Also, since I had actual garlic in the house I chopped up a couple of cloves in place of the garlic powder. I also used the opportunity to use up some buns were only going to be good for toasting soon. Overall I would have to say this was just okay. I may make it again with a little tweaking. Mike thought the garlic was too strong and I found it a bit too tangy so I am predicting a decrease in both garlic and Miracle Whip next time out.
