what's cooking wednesday - pecan pie

It took me a long time, but I finally figured out the best gift for Papa for his birthday. I promise to make him one dessert a month for 12 months. I love acknowledging birthdays and special occasions with a gift, but as I get older I struggle with the "stuff". The past couple of years I've been trying to give more gifts of time, rather than just more stuff. So this works out perfectly. Since I have recently mastered pie crust I thought I'd give a new recipe a whirl.... pecan pie. If you read my no go foods list then you know I dislike pecan so as an extra added bonus it would be real easy to give away.

Pecan Pie

I used the Pioneer Woman's recipe because, where else would you go for a great pie recipe? I won't copy her work here, but you can get the recipe over on PW's cooking blog.

Recipe Notes: Since I don't do pecans I had to take my tester's word for it's deliciousness. Mike gave it a solid 5/5, so there you go. I will definitely make it again because it's one of the easiest pies I have ever made. In fact I plan on making it soon for one of my favourite sister-in-laws. She's been dropping pecan pie hints on facebook that I am pretty sure are directed at me and I'll take any excuse to see that girl because she's awesome times ten.

What is What's Cooking Wednesday and how can I play?

What's cooking Wednesday was born out of a desire to get out of that what's for dinner rut. Playing is easy, on Wednesday post a recipe that has been tried and tested by you and then pop over here and add your name to the Mr. Linky. When entering your name also add the name of the recipe in brackets and make sure you link to your What's Cooking Wednesday post and not just your blog's front page.

*All front page links will be deleted!*
*Posts that aren't linked back will be deleted*
*Posts that don't include some sort of a recipe will be deleted*

Don't make me be a jerk. And don't forget to link back here, the home of What's Cooking Wednesday.

So for example I would write Shan (Speedy Chicken Stir Fry) in the name section. For the URL section I would post this: http://shanrev.blogspot.com/2007/10/whats-cooking-wednesday-speedy-chicken.html

I'll let you in on a little secret, my WCW recipes are almost never made on a Wednesday. So feel free to cook and photograph whenever you have time and join us posting on Wednesday

Pecan pie has to my favorite pie ever. I remember my grandma used to make it a lot when I was visiting her. She knew I loved it and she wanted to please me every time. Now that I got a hold of your recipe, I’m definitely going to try it.
